The best time to visit Grenada is the winter season, from December to April, when the weather is generally settled, warm, and sunny. This is also the dry season, with relatively low humidity. As such, the island is at its busiest, particularly from January to March.
Grenada essentially has just two seasons, dry and wet, as is typical of the tropical climate of the Caribbean. The island is the southernmost of the Windward Islands, with the Atlantic to the east and the Caribbean to the west, the heat tempered year-round by trade winds. Because it lies at the edge of the hurricane belt, tropical storms are relatively rare.
Visiting Grenada By Season
Summer
June, July, and August are the quiet season in Grenada. Humidity is high and rain showers are frequent. The occasional tropical storm may pass through. These are some of the wettest months of the year; August, for example, sees 5.6 inches (143mm) of precipitation. Temperatures are high, with a daily average in August of 82.4°F (28°C).
Tourism numbers are relatively low, although Grenada does enjoy a year-round flow of visitors. Late July and early August see a peak in activity, as the whole island is immersed in Spicemas, its annual carnival.

Fall
September, October, and November continue to see high humidity and frequent rainfall, although there will still be spells of sunshine. September and October are the most likely months for hurricanes to pass through the region, although Grenada lies on the edge of the storm belt. November is statistically the wettest month, with 6.5 inches (164mm) of rainfall, although this tapers off toward the end of the month.
Towards the end of November, with dry weather just over the horizon, visitor numbers pick up. Between Thanksgiving and the Christmas peak is possibly the best time to go to Grenada for fine weather without too many crowds.
Winter
December, January, and February are peak season months in Grenada. Expect long, sunny days and relatively low humidity, perfect for enjoying Grenada’s beaches, watersports, and hiking. The sea is a blissful 81°F (27°C), ideal for long snorkeling excursions.
By February, there is very little rainfall and comfortable temperatures averaging 79.8°F (26.6°C). February is also the sunniest month, with an average of nine hours of sunshine daily, although essentially there is little variation in sunshine hours throughout the year.
Spring
The spring period of March, April, and May is still the high season in Grenada, although visitor numbers taper off after April as the temperature and humidity begin to rise.
By May, you can expect average temperatures of 82.6°F (28.1°C) but still only 2.1 inches (53mm) of rain, making this a good time to visit Grenada if you prefer fewer crowds and don’t mind the humidity.
When Is Rainy Season?
There is always rain in the Caribbean, as is typical of the tropics, but the months with the highest rainfall are June to November, with October and November receiving the most rainfall. But even during this period, there will be spells of sunshine, and the fact that the island is green and lush, with waterfalls in full flow, makes it even more beautiful.
When Is High Season?
High season in Grenada is the winter months, from Christmas to April. This is when visitors come to the Caribbean to escape the frigid northern winters and bask in long days of tropical sunshine. Any rain during this season tends to fall as short, sharp showers in early evening, the clouds giving way to spectacular sunsets.
When Is Shoulder Season?
Shoulder season months in Grenada are May and June, once the crowds have dispersed from the high season, and November and early December, as the hurricane season ends and the Christmas rush is yet to begin. Any of these months are a good time to visit; the water is warm year-round and bars, restaurants, and attractions will be open.
When Is Low Season?
Low season in Grenada is the summer and early fall months, which are regarded as hurricane season in the Caribbean. September and October are usually the peak of storm season. While hurricanes aren’t guaranteed, and Grenada is, indeed, on the very edge of the storm belt, they do strike the island from time to time.
August, although during the low season, sees a peak of activity as it’s when Grenada holds its annual Carnival, Spicemas, when the whole island turns out for parades and parties, soca competitions and the dazzling Parade of Bands.
